Troy Victorian Stroll

The annual holiday tradition which transforms the historic streets of downtown Troy into a magical stage of song, dance, and family enjoyment – the Troy Victorian Stroll – is set to happen for the 25th time on Sunday, December 2, 2007.

Victorian Stroll LadiesThe Troy Victorian Stroll marks its 25th year as the region's premier free holiday event. All afternoon --from 11 am to 5:00 pm-- Troy's historic downtown will offer more than 100 free attractions, including the region's top performers ­ musicians, dancers, magicians, and storytellers.

There will be rides, refreshments, a craft show and much more set in the historic beauty of Victorian downtown Troy. Throughout the afternoon, Troy's fine shops, boutiques and galleries will be open for holiday shopping. If you're hungry, make sure to stop into many of Troy's best eateries or for a quick bite, visit our food court located next to City Hall.

The Troy Victorian Stroll attracts nearly 20,000 visitors from throughout the Northeast. The event is privately funded by corporate and citizen contributions and organized by the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce. The City of Troy provides operational support.

Window Decoration Contest

A popular highlight of the Stroll is the annual window-decorating contest, open to businesses and residences in downtown Troy. Judging for the contest will be held on November 27 & 28 and prizes will be awarded in various categories.

Wooden Victorian Toys

Wooden Victorian ToysThe Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce will again sell wooden Victorian toys manufactured by Rensselaer County wood turnings manufacturer W.J. Cowee, Inc.  The holiday hued yo-yo's and tops, perfect for stocking stuffers, are available at the Chamber office, 255 River Street in Troy, and other locations during the Stroll. W. J. Cowee, Inc., a long-time Chamber member, was known for their quality wood turnings for craft, toy, furniture, home decorating and industrial customers across the country and around the world.  Contact the Chamber office at 518.274.7020 for more info.

Collectable Ornaments

Also available will be the seventh in a series of pewter Troy Victorian Stroll ornaments designed by goldsmith John Bloom of Troy's JK Bloom Jewelers.  The limited edition ornaments are numbered and are available at JK Bloom Jewelers, located at 21 Third Street in downtown Troy.  For more information, please contact John Bloom at 518.272.1807.

Fleece Vests

Troy retailers will be selling vests, hats & scarves with the "Uncle Sam" stroll image found on the 2006 Stroll posters (see photo below). Vests will be available in adult sizes, while childrens sizes are available in sweatshirts with the same stroll image.  Contact the Chamber office for a listing of participating vendors.  518.274.7020.
